Field Trips Beyond the LCD: Inspiration Boulevard and the Quest for Better Design

It’s easy to get stuck inside on your computer long past the throws of a typical workday – especially if you fancy yourself both a designer and developer. If you happen to be a freelancer or small business owner, it’s usually worse. However, getting off your chair-molded ass and looking at things other than the handywork of other designers can be crucial to not only your mental and physical health, but also to your growth as a designer.
Looking beyond the many websites specializing in showcasing graphic work can help bring something new to the table. This concept of looking to the outside world for inspiration is nothing new, I thought I’d remind you (and myself) of the merits of looking beyond the LCD, and share a few things that I’ve been doing when I do get let out of the house for a bit.
