Leavin’ On a Jetplane… Buy Nexium Without A Prescription, I'm heading out to my magical hometown of Buffalo, NY today for holiday fun via Southwest Airlines. Upon printing out my e-ticket, nexium sample, Nexium reviews, I happened to notice a link to a section of their website providing information about their latest boarding procedures. The link took me to a sub-site of Southwest called "Boarding School, nexium for children, Unresponsive to nexium, " which looked like this:

Southwest Boading School Subsite

Sure, it's cute - its faux notebook look and the fudged bic pen drawings of tickets and planes and stars are just....um...adorable....but obviously the designer didn't have a broad demographic of travelers in mind, nexium cod. Prevacid versus nexium, While a design like this would certainly be appropriate for a t-shirt company that distributes to Urban Outfitters, I'm not sure it's the best communication design for an instructional sub-site of a major (albeit discount) airline, nexium without a rx. Coupon for nexium, I have never flown Southwest before. While I'm sure it will be fine (as in I probably won't plummet to my untimely death over the Rockies), gastritis nexium, Rantidine vs nexium, a boarding procedure site decorated in this juvenile manner threatens to wreck my confidence long before I ever board the damn plane. All I can say is I hope my boarding pass doesn't look like this:

Nexium For Sale

posted in accessibility, design, general, user interface design

Orchestrating Communication In DesignThe web is a dualistic space that combines rhizomatic Nexium For Sale, user navigation on the macro level with imposed hierarchy both in the markup and in the visual design. Unlike print design, in web design, Iv nexium compatability, all information, all content, is inherently weighted by it's tag, making all h1's, libido nexium, all h2's, all paragraphs, Canadian pharmacies nexium viagra, etc. visually equal to others of its type. Thus, it is up to the designer to communicate order and hierarchy, prilosec nexium differences. Effective communication design for web must account for the user, who is only one click away from being somewhere else.

Rhizome Theory Diagram

The user can travel throughout many sites, and many pages within one site, quickly and in innumerable ways, Nexium For Sale. Www astra zeneca nexium com, This infinite possibility on the part of user interaction is the very core of what makes web design different. There is no one path, and we cannot assume that every user has the same end objective. One must accommodate the meandering tourist as well as the user who has a purpose, nexium protonix or prilosec. Designing a website is about creating a visually meaningful way for the user to navigate to the desired content, browse, When will nexium lose its copyright, meander. Nexium For Sale, And thus our approach to communication design must accommodate a user who has no inherent reason to stick around.

A web designer is not here to decorate the page, but rather to orchestrate the user’s actions. He or she is the architect that designs this structure and the content it holds with the purpose of making it not only accessible for many types of foot traffic, b nexium, but comprehensible to the end user.

The Aesthetics of Good Communication Design

It is the job of the designer to visually communicate many things to the viewer all at once in a way that is easy to take in. Drugs comparable to nexium, A good design balances the branding of the site with navigability, and structured content that allows for surface level skimming and browsing, which in turn can lead to deeper reading or more pointed exploration. Visual hierarchy, legibility, and predictable navigation are key to allowing the user to have not only an aesthetically pleasing experience, but one which is gratifying, Nexium For Sale.

The first impression of the site is one which will either result in an immediate bounce or further exploration, nexium safety. If a person cannot wrap their head around your site and why it’s there, they’re likely to just ditch out without giving your site a second chance. Tagamet nexium, That is why immediacy is of the essence here.

Upon landing on your site, you want the user to immediately have a solid grasp on three fundimental things:

1. Nexium For Sale, I am “Here” (insert company name, or branded entity).
2, nexium or prevacid. Here is “This” kind of site (replace “this” with web application, e-Com site, Buy nexium in canada, corporate brochure, blog, online magazine, whatever....)3, prevacide versus nexium. On “This” site, I will find X Content

Start With The Structure:

Form follows Function: the old modernist credo continues to resonate - start with identifying the function, Nexium esomeprazole, build the form to frame in that function, and then build the rest of the site design on top of that architectural framing. It’s a simple thing, but one which is frequently forgotten by novice designers eager to jump straight into the graphics and impress, discount nexium generic. Taking the time to create a wireframe and identifying the best way to lay out content can mean the difference between a logical, easy to navigate design and one which is muddled and confusing to the user, Nexium For Sale.

While every designer seeks to create a design which is memorable for the viewer, it is important to remember that there are best practices that are in place for a reason. Calcium suuplements nexium, A logical layout with it’s core components - header, footer, columns - should not be abandoned in favor of “breaking the box.” Many have tried to break the box model, few have come up successful, nexium plavix.

Jeffrey Zeldman articulates my point here nicely in his article, Understanding Web Design (A List Apart):

The experienced web designer, Nexium cdhp aetna, like the talented newspaper art director, accepts that many projects she works on will have headers and columns and footers. Her job is not to whine about emerging commonalities but to use them to create pages that are distinctive, natural, nexium patient advisory leaflet, brand-appropriate, subtly memorable, Nexium generics, and quietly but unmistakably engaging. Nexium For Sale, Not only does this simple 2 sentence statement sum up and reinforce my point here, but says it better.

The beauty of keeping a logical, familiar layout is that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. If I replace the wheels on my car with square blocks, nexium vaniqa myonlinemedsbiz, the damn thing wouldn’t go. For the same reason you shouldn’t ditch your tires just yet, Reflux nexium, a “box model” layout with a header, footer and columns in between works better than some breach in the normal, functional structure.

Branding: Informing with Aesthetics:

If a sound structure is key to providing a logical ordering for the site’s content, discount esomeprazole generic nexium, the branding of a site is at the heart of creating a memorable experience for the user. Consistency in the look and feel, repetition of symbolic elements, use of color and type not only remind the viewer where they are, but set the stage for a meaningful experience, Nexium For Sale. Aesthetics frame not only the site itself, Acid reflux breaking through nexium, but the content both on a micro and macro level, and is key to repeat users.

While sticking the logo at the top left of the site and carrying through the branded color pallet is a good place to start, it is not enough to truly create a memorable well-branded experience. Finding the subtle opportunities to reinforce the brand is essential. Custom icons are an excellent way to remind the user of where they are throughout their experience on your site (for more on this check out my previous article, Icons: Balancing Legibility with Branding Initiatives). Nexium For Sale, Graphic illustrations, photo treatments, type, and type embellishments (like custom graphics for bullets on lists) are also excellent places to reinforce the brand. The more you can subtly create branding reminders, the more your site will be etched in the user’s subconscious.

And Now, the Finishing Touches...

Once you’ve got the strong structural foundation and the main treatments hammered out, finer attention to detail can be employed sparingly. The tiniest treatments make all the difference between a good design and a great design. Embellishments, be they ornate or something as simple as a black 1 pixel underline, can put the finishing touches on the content design. These are not mindless decorations, but rather seek to further emphasize areas of the page, direct the eye, move the user around the content in an ordered and subconsciously informed manner, Nexium For Sale.

It is important to remember however, that a little goes a long way, especially when adding embellishments and details to enhance the design. An overdone design can distract from content, and thus throw a wrench in the communication aspect. That is not to say that minimalism is key to clarity in all situations, but too often a design that is overwhelming can actually work against the purpose of framing content, or can frame it all too equally.

Knowing how to create visual hierarchy by balancing areas of intensity and emphasis with simplicity and descending levels of importance is essential to effective communication in design.

In a world where users are only one click away from going away, a logical and enticing design that frames the content in a cohesive manner can give them reason to stick around a little longer. That's your roll as the designer. After that, it's up to the content to not suck....

Where Can I Buy Retin

posted in accessibility, codes + cures, design, general, resources, user interface design, web development

Accessibility: Don’t Miss the Target Where Can I Buy Retin, Accessibility for the web has become a hot topic these days as Target, Inc. finds themselves in the throws of a California court case for their lack of accessibility of Target.com. While Target's site has undergone a lot of updates to become more accessible to handicapped users since the last time they were in court, on Oct. 14th a judge found that their efforts to date are just not enough, hair loss retin. So how much is enough, Where Can I Buy Retin. Well, regardless of disability, Rx online retin a, a user should be able to navigate the site regardless of disability and reach their "target" objective - in the case of Target, that's usually buying something (or emailing customer service, checking order statuses, etc.), psoriasis retin a.

While accessibility is certainly not a new area of concern for web designers/developers, the implications of a high profile law suit against a large consumer site like Target could mean tighter regulations beginning in the state of California (doesn't it always start here?). Retin a acne of chin, Thanks to precedents like Target and their legal confrontation with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and other related legislation, we may soon find legislators enforcing that all public websites must under law be accessible to everyone. Now, more than ever, developers need to start thinking about user experience for the disabled - If you haven't already, combining retin a with copper peptides, it's just a matter of time before your lack of compliance with best practices for accessibility is viewed as the equivalent of not including a wheelchair ramp or elevator at your place of business. Since standards of practice in this area have always been weak to catch on, Retin a tretinoin, the precedents set by any new rulings in this case could mean lots of work to update sites to comply with new codes. Where Can I Buy Retin, I've compiled some quick tips for increased accessibility as well as a bunch of useful resources and tools for getting things up to par.

Who to Consider:

1. The Blind - Screen Reader technology has come a long way, but you need to make sure your site is screen reader friendly, retin a eaten by child.

2. The Color Blind - there are many forms of color blindness, Natural alternatives to retin a, ranging from partial to total inability to see color. Pages with little contrast from light to dark may be legible to those of us who see colors, but having strong contrast between text and background will ensure that users with color blindness can read to content as well, Where Can I Buy Retin.

3. The Deaf - this of course is less of an issue unless your site is riddled with audio. None-the-less, marry lue retin, a good description to go with video, audio with suplamentory text, Acid glycolic retin, etc. are good if you want everyone to be able to get the most from your content.

Where Can I Buy Retin, 4. The Mobility Impaired - Lose the three tiered drop downs already. - even handy-able folks have trouble with these, exfoliate after using retin a. Seriously, consider how difficult your site is to navigate for someone who does not have the full range of motion you take for granted. Retin a price, Tips for Greater Accessibility:

So how does one make a site accessible to the disabled. I could write a book (many have infact), Where Can I Buy Retin. There are many steps that need to be taken and lots of testing that must go on. That said, there are a few items that should be addressed right off the bat and some ways to accomplish the bare bones of accessibility, retin a tips, Here's a very basic 5 point model I've developed for taking an old site and making it accessible on the fly:

5 Steps to Increased Accessibility:

1. Assess Content Legibility: First off, From overseas retin, download a screen reader - then you can shut your eyes and let it tell you how to navigate. Experiencing first hand the site as a blind individual would is essential to understanding how navigable it is to the sight impaired. Where Can I Buy Retin, Go through the site and log your experience. Here are some quick questions to ask yourself:

- are the main items on the page ordered logically in the html or did you shift them around with the css. Being able to read naturally from top to bottom and get a sense of the hierarchy and importance on the page

-Is the markup clean, retin a serum. - style sheets and JS are external. Element tags used appropriately (headers ranked 1-6, Cheapest price retin a, paragraphs, list tags, etc. denote the type of text content they contain, Where Can I Buy Retin.

2, retin a lawsuits. Assess Color Choices and Contrast: There are several resources out there that allow you to test contrast on a page (some are included at the end of this post, along with other resources). Retin a gel 0.1, However, an easy trick I use for initial assessment is taking a screenshot of the site, opening it in Photoshop of other image editing software and changing the mode from RGB to black and white. This gives a quick overview of how color density affects the content of the site overall, interior extensor retin.

Where Can I Buy Retin, 3. Images and Animations: If an image is not part of the integral content of the site, make it a background image. Micronized retin a, Make sure the images that are in teh body content are relivant to the page content and that all have an alt tag with a detailed description of what the image is and why it's there. If you're dealing with graphs/charts in image form (better to use a table and text content when you can) or other complex contextual images, use the long description (longdesc="") attribute, and further describe the graphical content and context in detail, retin de cellulite.

4. Links: All links should have a title attribute that tells the user what happens when they click there, Where Can I Buy Retin. Avoid non-descriptive linked text like "click here" - taken out of context, Retin a micro 1, it will not tell the user what "here" is.

4. Target Links: Use target links to allow users with screen readers to skip around the page from the content to the navigation to the subnav, etc, oily after retin a. These targets do not need to be visible to the sighted user - they are very useful for users with screen readers to allow skipping over areas. Where Can I Buy Retin, This allows the user to navigate to the parts of the page they want without having to read the whole bloody header, navigation, etc.

5. Acne cream retin, Multimedia: Provide captioning and transcripts of audio, and descriptions of video.

When content developers mark up natural language changes in a document, speech synthesizers and braille devices can automatically switch to the new language, making the document more accessible to multilingual users. Content developers should identify the predominant natural language of a document's content (through markup or HTTP headers). Content developers should also provide expansions of abbreviations and acronyms, Where Can I Buy Retin.

In addition to helping assistive technologies, natural language markup allows search engines to find key words and identify documents in a desired language. Natural language markup also improves readability of the Web for all people, including those with learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, or people who are deaf.

When abbreviations and natural language changes are not identified, they may be indecipherable when machine-spoken or brailled.

There are many other items to address to make a site truly accessible, and more detailed ways to address the above issues. However, you can read more detailed guidelines over at the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative.

Retin Buy

posted in design, dribble, user interface design, web apps

Icons: Balancing Legibility with Branding Initiatives Retin Buy, As far as I'm concerned, icons serve two purposes in the web application arena: they act as visual markers that tell the user "click here to do this" and they, in best practices, play a pivotal role in the branding of a site. Many websites and pretty much every web app needs at least a few icons on their site, on browser toolbars, retin a micro negative feedback, or for plugin apps for open APIs (like Facebook). Retin a micro usages, The demand for little pictures as symbolic guides has organically created it's own sector in the design industry (though there are still plain 'ol designers like me who create them on an as-needed basis but would never consider themselves purely an "icon designer").

Branding: Icons as Gentle Reminders

The key is to strike a balance between originality of style (branded recognition) and legibility (symbolic recognition). The ideal user experience is one of seamless navigation to complete the desired tasks or arrive at the desired information, retin a safe young women, as well as one of constant subtle brand recognition. The user knows he or she is undeniably on your site or using your app the whole time, and subconsciously cannot forget it, because every element subtly supports this branding, Retin Buy. Retin advanced guestbook 2.4.3, The style treatments on the icons are the backbone of these little “brand reminders” that carry the user through a recognizible experience that is your web app.

Custom icons do not have to be fancy in order to reinforce branding and do the trick as navigational aids. Often times even simple line graphics can possess an elegance and undistracting visual symbolism that some overdone 3d renderings lack, otc rentinol retin a. Microsoft may have sunk a fortune into their Windows Vista icon set, Correxion ox retin, but c’mon, those things are just plain tacky. I’ll take the

The Logo as an Icon Retin Buy, Increasingly, smaller versions of logos as icons are functionally used first and foremost as a branding tool - no site is without it’s 16x16 (or 32x32) pixel favicon and many web apps have several sizes of “bugs” that can be planted on other sites. The "bug" or small iconic image representation of a logo is used to symbolize the action of whatever that company or web app does, retin a micro reviews. For example, Define retin, the Digg icon is a symbolic marker used to tell the user "Digg this post." Symbolically the action tells the user to add it to their account - of course if you don't have an account to sign in to, you are prompted to create an account on that website. While it allows the user the ease of a prescripted action, age spot cream with retin a, it also and perhaps more importantly serves as a tool of viral marketing. Retin a help scars, The icon represents an action but it also represents that web application an brings new users into the loop.

Part of making an effective social web app of any kind is getting new users to sign up and getting old users to return again and again, Retin Buy. If your site offers some sort of bookmarking, creating a little logo-icon as a viral marketing tool that can easily be implemented on a third-party blog or website can get you that boost in both unique and returning user traffic, after before picture retin wrinkle. Social bookmarking icons have been especially effective, Buy retin a uk, as site owners like getting the reciprocal traffic from your site.

Even outside of the web app arena, the favicon or tiny square logo "bug" is the hottest selling adspace around the internet - many sites that make their money by paid placement ads have now begun to separate out space for favicon ads - and on popular sites these adspaces seem to go like hotcakes as they're a cheap way to get graphical adspace for many sites with a smaller marketing budget, retin ox.

icon adspace

Many have taken a hint from sites like CSS Remix (see image above) sell dozens of favicon-sized spaces to advertisers at rates like $30/mo. Retin Buy, But in order to make this form of advertizing worth while, your favicon has to stand out amongst the others. Roc retin, Branding and the Icon Set

The wide-spread availability of icon sets, both free and vended, can save lots of design bucks, retin a acne rebates, but it's not necessarily the best approach for creating a visually memorable and unique user experience. Retin a lotions, While prepackaged icon sets have their merits - most professionally developed icon sets contain at least mostly familiar iconography that users understand for visual navigation - in a world of web application over-saturation, branding is not something you can afford to sacrifice. Maybe some of the biggies get away with it, retin a vs retin a micro, but most of them make up for it by being crammed with functionality, Retin a good for white heads, and having been there first they're not fighting for scraps like the newbies out there.

I will say this though: the Chalkboard icon set has one lovely icon that still has me cracking up - the spam icon that looks indeed like a can of spam. Mystery meat icons and humour in icon sets is always a plus, Retin Buy.

spam icon

Icans and Ican’ts: Usability in Icon Design:

Icons need to function as visual design components to enhance the livelihood of the page - and let's face it, tazorac vs retin a, most really bland and bubbly bright web 2.0 sites need them so they don't look totally cookie cutter. Retin a burn, However, icons and graphics are supposed to have recognizable (and ideally universal) meaning - you're supposed to see it, know what the symbol means, retin a new collegen, and thus be prompted to click on it to trigger an expected action. Natural alternatives to retin a, Before you assume where I'm going with this, let me interject that this is not a cry for a beaurocratic hand to come down from the sky and put in place a mandated icon set that must be implemented on all websites. However, retin a .05 45 g cream, like all things web, Retin a micro vs ziana, we've reached a point where my own experiences as a confused user and heated arguments with alleged UI experts suggests to me that standardization of at least the most basic of icons is necessary. Retin Buy, Desktop icons and application icons have naturally standardized themselves to a certain degree, but there are still a lot of 'iffy examples of icons that don't really do the trick as far as visual communication goes.

While introducing creative, original icons that go with the style of the overall site design is imperative to avoiding an “out of the box” stock image look, retin veins face spider, icons need to also function as traffic signs - symbols that guide the viewer through actions and instruct in a sense. Johnathan Follett says in Seeing the World In Symbols: Icons and the Evolving Language of Digital Wayfinding:

In conjunction with information architecture, icons guide virtual wayfinding and help users to perform specific tasks efficiently. While the term wayfinding typically refers to orienting people in physical space—using graphics, text, signs, and other design elements—it’s useful to examine the use of icons through the lens of digital wayfinding, as a way of generating a fresh perspective on how users perceive and interact with their virtual spaces.
As applications are growing on the web, the need to instruct users on how to use the site to it's full capacity is expanding the need for a larger roster of icons in much the same way desktop applications make use of them. Symbolic legibility is critical.
Teaching the User:

In icon design, there are the norms, like “send to a friend” (the envelope and arrow), close window (x in a box), and the delete (trash can, sometimes with a little x overlapping the lower right corner), Retin Buy. These staple icons are easy because they have in a sense standardized themselves long before web apps became wide spread and are often carry-overs from the desktop applications we are all so familiar with. However, as web apps do new things, visually describing new tasks and actions becomes the challenge.

One needs the user to understand the actions associated with a particular icon. However for new actions and functionalities for which there is no common symbol in place, there is the need to teach. Retin Buy, Approaches to this vary from placing text next to the icon, to using descriptive title tags on links, to the on hover balloon with a description of the action one needs to use. I’m personally a fan of the bubble as it’s a staple in desktop applications, and hidden div that pops up “onmouseover” can be styled gracefully to even further fortify the branding of both the icon and the site at large. Over time the user will become familiar with the icon and load it into their cache of understood symbols. This is how standards are created where none existed previously.
And Now A Somewhat Fun Game: Name that Site

The Rules are simple: I’ll show you some icons sets and you guess what site it’s from.

**note: This is not so much really a game as it is a visual depiction of the idea that well branded icons can reinforce branding in a way that is (as Mastercard would say) Priceless.

icon guessing game

This game is not really a test of how well you know your web 2.0 icon sets, but rather a test of how effective their icons are as an integral part of the branding of the site. So don't feel bad if you missed most of them.
